Birchbox March 2016 Unboxing

MOMMYLICIOUS

I am a little late posting this because I was caught up with Spring cleaning. As you know my resolution this year was to pamper and invest in myself and hence all the beauty subscription services. My house was just filled with boxes and I now have an overwhelming amount of makeup which I had to organize.

Anyway, getting back to the March Birchbox at hand. This month's box made it on time and I was happy to be using the products in the same month (unlike February).

The theme of the March Birchbox is Ready for Anything. It has products that help to put together a look in no time. There is always a little postcard that comes inside the box that gives out the theme of the month and enlists the products and prices.

This month's box looks like this:

The March Birchbox had the pastel shades of Spring on the box.

The products I received this month are:

1. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream

It is a moisturizer and is supposed to be the ultimate soother. This is not greasy at all and gets absorbed into the skin very fast. It has a mild but pleasant scent. The full size of the cream retails for $26.50.

2. MILK Studio Lip Color

I got this Lip color from MILK Studios in the shade Cream. I like the shade as it is mix between mauve and nude, and I am a sucker for nude shades. It is really pigmented and has a matte finish. This lip color had stayed on for pretty long and needed touch-up after about 4 hours. The only thing I am not too happy about is the size. I have not seen any sample sized lipstick as small as this one. I wish it was bigger. The Full size retails for $22.

3. Smashbox Eyeshadow Trio

This set of 3 natural shades of eyeshadow is great for everyday wear. It is good for on-the-go, size wise. You can create a few looks both for day and night-time with these colors. These eyeshadows are pretty pigmented and stay for long. The full size retails for $28.

4. PARLOR by Jeff Chastain

This is a blowout spray for adding instant volume and lustre to your hair. It also protects the hair from heat damage. I am not too fond of blowout hairsprays, so I am not happy to receive this product. This is the only product in the box that I am not finding useful. The full size retails foir $24.

5. Wilma Schumann Eye Pads

These hydrating collagen eye pads restore, hydrate and plump the eye contours gently and naturally. These eye pads can only be used once and the pack has 1 pair. I find such products a waste because I cannot decide whether I like a product or the formula just with one use. These eye pads did come in handy for my tired eyes after a really rough week. The full size retails for $18.

Overall, I have mixed feeling toward the March Birchbox. While I really loved the lip color and the eyeshadow, I was disappointed to receive products like the hairspray and eye pads. I really expected more from Birchbox.

I am in half a mind to discontinue my Birchbox subscription because all the 5 products are sample-sized. Let me know what you think of Birchbox and what products you have received this month.

Birchbox February 2016 Unboxing

MOMMYLICIOUS

I just got my first Birchbox in the mail today. This is for the month of February, which I received on March 1st. Bummer! I had subscribed in February 2016, but since no box showed up, I had given up hope. Within the first week of March, I received both the February and March box.

Now, coming to the much-awaited box. The February Birchbox is cute; it is peach in color with a combination of different symbols and cosmetics on it. Each box comes with a card that states the theme of the month and the retail value of the products. The theme of this month is 'special ocassion' (probably because of Valentine's Day et al).

The 5 products I received are:

1. HEY HONEY TAKE IT OFF EXFOLIATING PEEL-OFF MASK

This peel off mask is supposed to brighten the skin and promote clear complexion with alpha hydroxy acids to peel away dead skin and reduce wrinkles. Unlike a few other peel-off masks that I have tried, this comes off easily and (thankfully) in larger pieces. What I did not like about this mask is the medicinal smell, which is a little off-putting.

I received a 10ml tube, which will probably suffice 2 applications. The full size retails for $29.

2. ARROW BOOST LIP BALM

Arrow is a Birchbox exclusive brand, that you can only get through this subscription service. This color enhancing lip balm is a superhyrating formula that adjusts to the pH of each weareras natural lip color to create the perfect hue. This natural shade has a nice subtle shimmer to it. It is great for day wear and I am going to keep it in my purse.

This looks like a full-sized product and it retails for $14.

3. THE BODY SHOP'S FUJI GREEN TEA BODY BUTTER

This body butter features a new scent that hydrates skin up to 24 hours, leaving it soft, smooth and healthy. I loved the smell and it is really refreshing. I am huge fan of The Body Shop's body butters. Their signature creaminess makes the skin feel soft and supple.

This is a 50ml sample size. The full size retails for $21.

4. TOCCA EAU DE PARFUM

This scent offers layers of warm florals and zesty citrus. It is very refreshing and the Birchbox has been smelling great because of this little perfume inside. The scent is strong and vibrant and lingers on for a long time. A little goes a long way.

The full size retails for $68.

5. TERAX HAIR CARE CREMA

This conditioner hydrates hair, detangles and eliminates frizz and static. It has to be rinsed out like a regular conditioner. This Italian brand is cruelty free and sulphate free. It has a very mild and pleasant smell. This is a very useful product considering I have frizzy hair. On using it, it did detangle my long curly hair and it managed to tame some of the frizz.

This is a 60ml pack, the full size retails for $22.

BONUS - MALLY BEAUTY EVERCOVER SHADOW STICK

I received this eyeshadow stick from Mally Beauty for signing up with Birchbox. I am not sure if the offer is still on, but you can check it while registering. It is in the shade Copper Rose and the color is gorgeous.

This is a full size product and it retails for $25.

Overall, I am pretty happy with this month's Birchbox. If not anything else, it is great smelling box for sure. I loved most of the products and I am going to use all of them. I must add that Birchbox has done a good job with matching profiles with products.
